Variety Profile
Striking, deep purple new growth with foliage maturing to a bronzed green. Spikes of soft lime coloured flowers from late winter through spring. Compact habit. Evergreen and hardy withough any special needs. Dark foliage adds a dramatic backdrop for either hot or pastel themed plantings. Other dry tolerant plants which make attractive companions would include the lime green foliage of A. Curvaceous and/or the silvery strap-like folaige of D. White Tiger for year round foliage interest. In a perennial border all members of the salvia family are suitable with colour choices ranging from pinks and reds through to purples and blues. For those seeking more romantic blend, E. Blackbird will happily jostle between roses, irises, heliotrope, alliums and pelargoniums - just a few of many free flowering plants that suit similar conditions and which require low water use.

Cultural Care

Pruning generally not required although spent flowering stems can be removed avoiding contact with sap. Feed in spring with a slow release fertiliser for best results.
